The Bradoon is the snaffle component of a double bridle. It has a uni-lateral action, which enables lateral bend and control, and works to prepare the horse for the curb bit through flexion and the half-halt. It is important to have these two bits working in harmony and fitting together seamlessly. The Korsteel Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle is where you need to start! The Bradoon Loose Ring is a single-jointed bit, with the simple 'nut-cracker' effect acting on the bars of the mouth, the lips and the tongue. The loose rings allow some freedom and flexibility of response for the horse. The basic snaffle is intended to raise the head, by way of the action on the lips, and to have an 'inward' action due to the pressure on the bars and tongue. The curb bit, working in union with the Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle, influences and invites the horse's skeletal system to work more by increasing the flexion through the poll, and the angle of the hind legs.
